Whatcha Doing What is it?

Beta testers wanted

Help me test Whatcha Doing.

Whatcha Doing is a small desktop app that keeps asking what you just did, then grades your week against your own plan every Sunday. Before more people get it, I want it in the hands of people who will use it on real work and tell me plainly what breaks.

What testing looks like

No meetings and no long surveys. You use the app the way anyone would.

  1. Install it on your computer. Windows, Mac or Linux. It takes about two minutes. The app isn't on the official app stores yet, so your computer may ask you to confirm before it opens. The download page shows you how.
  2. Let it run all week. Plan your week and work as usual. The app pops up through the day and asks what you did. You type one line and carry on.
  3. Read your Sunday report. A detailed look at how you spent your time and what you can do better next week, with a score out of 10.
  4. Tell me what you think. What confused you, what broke and what you wish it did. A short message is enough.

The goal: if your report is helpful enough to make your next week better, the app has done its job.

What you get: finish your first week and get your report, and I'll extend your trial so you can keep tracking your progress. You also get a direct line to me and a real say in what the app becomes.

Your logs and reports stay on your computer. Testing doesn't change that.

It's a good fit if you

  • work for yourself, study, or have a deadline that is months away
  • end some days unsure where the hours went
  • can give it at least two weeks on a computer you work on daily
